Skye Blue

Adult Entertainment Entrepreneur

Skye Blue has come a long way from her days as a strip club lighting tech. She stepped onto the stage and her life’s been a whirlwind of adult entertainment success ever since. She has been an on camera star, a touring feature dancer, a producer, director and all around businesswoman. Her latest project, Trashmouth, may take her to TV. And why not? Nothing’s stopped her yet! She takes a few precious minutes out of her insane schedule to share her personal thoughts about her many past jobs, powerful women in porn and what’s to come with ErosZine readers.

ErosZine: You've had all sorts of adult entertainment jobs: strip club DJ, light tech, stripper, porn and fetish movie star, producer, director, executive producer, internet content creator, even a mainstream movie part! Which job was the most fun?

Skye Blue: The most “fun job” I’ve done in adult entertainment would be when I was dancing and doing movies with Summer Cummings. We worked so well together and the ways we differed in looks, performance and as women actually complimented us in our journey at that time. We were able to create all kinds of different scenarios in our shows on stage and scenes in movies without having to be scripted by anyone. We traveled the world together and had a chance to do what most people dream about, all while getting paid to do so. That was by far one of the funnest, memorable and most adventurous periods of my life.

EZ: And how does it feel to be in the position of power?

SB: Sometimes scary, sometimes overwhelming, sometimes like the cat that swallowed the canary, but most of the time I’m grateful for the opportunities that I’ve had, good and bad, that have brought me where I am today.

EZ: On a more personal note, you're known as a domme. Does that help you in the adult entertainment industry?

SB: Yes and no, depending on the individual I’m dealing with and the situations that arise. Some people find that part of my personality attractive, while others may find it to be intimidating. It depends on how secure a person is with themselves as to how they interpret me.

EZ: And as a domme, what sort of qualities do you look for in a sub?

SB: Willingness, adventure, secureness and the ability to know the difference between conscience decision and careless choice.

EZ: Are you a lifestyler, 24/7? Or is it partly for show?

SB: I would consider myself a lifestyler to a certain degree. I wouldn’t classify my expressions as “show.” When I do perform or session, what I give of myself as a Domme comes from deep within. Always keeping a keen sense and respect of who, what and how you are doing.

EZ: There seem to be more women in producer/director roles these days. Do you think it's having a positive effect on porn?

SB: I believe the rise of women producers and directors in porn definitely has a positive effect not only on porn, but women in general as well. Without sounding like a feminist, as a woman it’s empowering to know that there are women out there expressing and sexually liberating themselves without feeling as though it should be something to hide in a brown paper bag.

EZ: And do you believe there are more female porn consumers these days?

SB: Most definitely. More and more women are okay with letting themselves be okay with their own desires and sexual expression.

EZ: You're actually an educated and degreed filmmaker. Do you think that has helped you be taken more seriously?

SB: Well, I’m not a degreed filmmaker, but have taken several independent courses in filmmaking. I think what’s helped me be taken more seriously is my integrity, complete hands-on approach from beginning to end and dedication to each project.

EZ: What was it like working for Playgirl Television?

SB: Creative, crazy, nerve racking, challenging, jet-setting, character building, heartbreaking and one of the “best jobs” I’ve ever had.

EZ: You must've been able to really help them form their brand and give them direction.

SB: I think that we each developed our brand along the way. For years I had been accustomed to fulfilling man’s fantasy. With Playgirl, the tables turned and I had to tap into the erogenous zones and sexual desire, expression and opinion from a women point of view, while still keeping it naughty enough for men to enjoy by themselves or with their wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, what have you. I also honed my skills as a “pornographer,” if you will, and developed my brand even more so.

EZ: You’ve had a lot of success with Platinum Blue, including many AVN Awards. Aside from industry recognition, what's been the sweetest part of your successes?

SB: The sweetest part of my success is always remembering my humble beginnings. Being grateful for all I’ve been provided with in my journeys, the lifestyle I’ve been afforded and most of all my strong family bond.

EZ: Your newest project is Trashmouth. Tell us about what you're working on with that?

SB: Since the DVD release of “The Naughty Show – Bad Girls of Comedy,” we’ve been busy putting together a live tour show, trying for a Vegas show room and hopefully a TV series.

EZ: What are your hopes for the future of both Platinum Blue and Trashmouth?

SB: My hopes for both Platinum Blue and Trashmouth is, of course, success.
