Okay, let me start by saying that it’s one thing to meet someone you’ve
seen having sex in a movie and quite another to see your friends in
one! I know a few of the lovely selflovers in this DVD and it was
pretty eye-opening to see them coming on camera! Wow!
Sorry, just had to get that outta the way! Now, on to the movie:
Betty Dodson has been
helping women achieve orgasm for decades and she’s still going strong,
educating and coaching through her web site, books and films. Her
latest production, Orgasmic Women: 13 Selfloving Divas, is the first in
which she calls herself a student. Betty presents 13 women in this DVD;
they masturbate, yes, but they also share their secrets and stories,
their early masturbatory experiences, their revelations and their
routines. If you can call them routines!
In over an hour, you’ll see all 13 women masturbate, using everything
from their fingers to a ballpoint pen (?!?), a tiny battery powered
vibrator to the plug-in big guns, a bunched up blanket to a stream of
water. One woman augments her selflove with clothespins on her labia
and another an anal plug. Some enjoy vaginal penetration and we see a
selection of their accessories.
The women are young or not so; black, Asian or of indeterminate race;
gay, straight or bi; shaved or totally natural—in other words, women of
all sorts. Each talks candidly about her personal experiences with
masturbation, answering Betty’s questions about the first time they had
an orgasm, their favorite positions or preference in toys and how
important masturbation-induced orgasms are to them. (Very important,
surprise, surprise!)
Upon achieving their orgasms, some are almost silent, while others are
screamers. A couple of the ladies laugh, which was fun to see,
especially since I often laugh—or cry!—myself.
Betty offers advice and facts, as well as some of her personal history.
The film is both informative and instructive, and while it is certainly
erotic, it isn’t exactly wanking material. It’s more of a window into
the private sex lives of ordinary women, although you have to admit
that it takes an extraordinary woman to masturbate on camera. These are
not porn stars or even wannabe porn stars. They are women you might see
at the grocery store—or the sex toy store! I was particularly impressed
by their honesty. You’ll feel as if you’re listening in on a
conversation between close friends.
The high points for me were my friend Jamye’s husky voice and glittery
eyelids, my friend Carin’s deliciously muscular derriere (Ohmigod!
Divine!) and the shuddering crescendo of Ing’s orgasm. If you’d like to
be amazed by the distinct differences between a baker’s dozen of
women’s orgasms—as well as their tales, their tips and their equally
distinctly different genitalia—I highly recommend Ms. Dodson’s DVD. It
will make every woman appreciate her pussy and glory in her orgasms!
