Raquel Devine

Glamorous Adult Entertainer

Raquel Devine is a glamorous adult entertainer who’s been in the biz for only a few years. But she’s definitely made her mark. Appearing in a wide variety of releases, her charm and beauty come through even in silly flicks like “Clown Fuckers.” And so does her sparkling sense of humor. We ran into Raquel in Las Vegas, where she was a guest hostess at Mondo Porno and one of the thousands starlets at The AVN Awards. She took a few moments to speak with ErosZine.

ErosZine: Tell us a little bit about your background. Where you grew up, lost your virginity, those standard things guys always want to know.

Raquel Devine: I was raised an Air Force Brat. My dad was a B-52 pilot and we lived in Riverside, CA; Merced, CA; Alabama (yikes!); Guam (very fun, gorgeous beaches); Nebraska. I first became sexually curious at age 6 when a neighborhood boy showed me a dirty magazine of a man and woman naked laying on top of each other. Then when I was 8 or 9 years old in Guam, our next door neighbor had a shit-load of porn in a bedroom. I mean three-foot high stacks and stacks of porn. I remember reading the dirty stories and looking at the photos and being very turned on. In Nebraska I was about 11 when my best girlfriend told me to lay on her mom's "back massager." As soon as that plug-in deal was between my legs, I had my first big "O." I was addicted! I rushed home to find out what "vibrated" at my house and could only find an electric toothbrush. From then on I would come home from sixth grade and rush to my bedroom to "do homework" with my newfound friend!

I started kissing at 12 and LOVED IT! It was during a "truth or dare" game with friends. I thought it was a great first kiss that even included some tongue action. Then my brother's older friend (about 15, but he seemed like such a "man") asked if he could see my "downstairs" area. That scared me, but by 13 that fear was gone. I loved it when a guy I was making out with fingered me. By 14 I was so horny I was ready to go all the way with my first boyfriend. It took several months to fit it in! I'm very tight and used to have to put Vaseline on my tampons to get them in! Needless to say, that is one of the reasons I never wanted children—ouch!

My first blowjob was at 14 too. I didn’t know what it was called or what would happen. I just knew that I loved doing it and seemed very natural to me. The first time I had actual intercourse was lame. The condom, on top of not knowing what to expect, made it the most boring 10 seconds of my life. At first I thought...is that it? Then after the third or fourth time I was starting to get it. By 15, 16 and 17 I was enjoying sex very much.

I never thought about getting into porn in my twenties. I married at 22 and divorced two-and-a-half years later.  My first husband was like a "chick," very needy and insecure. He always wanted to know where I was going and what I was doing. Talk about "saran wrap." I felt like I had a Siamese twin—yuck!

EZ: How long have you been in the business?

RD: My first movie was made in December of 1997. I had worked "normal" jobs since I was 17 years old. I was a legal secretary for four years, worked at Northrop for three years and another three years in outside sales. After making most of my movies in 1998, I realized how much I loved the adult industry. It made me understand men sooo much better. Women are way too demanding with their men's fidelity. Let them have fun—safe fun. Don't put your man in "penis jail!"

EZ: What led to it? Were you a dancer first or anything?

RD: Before I made my first movie, I did try dancing in clubs (psycho bitches) and doing private strip shows. That led to doing bachelor parties. I really enjoyed the bachelor parties. Most were a lot of fun and that’s how I met fellow porn star Jessica Jewel. She was putting herself through law school and was an actual attorney (passed the California bar in 1997) when we made porn!

EZ: What have been your favorite moments in the business?

RD: My favorite scenes were with porn star Kyle Stone. He’s a blast to work with, a great actor and very professional. The funniest movie I made was "Clown Fuckers" with Jessica Jewel. They had us dress up like clowns and we could not stop laughing. It was so stupid. Most people in the biz are great. I always said I was more sexually harassed in my real jobs, not the adult industry.

EZ: The biz seems to have a million women now, as opposed to, say, 10 years ago when there were more “starlets” and not so many semi-anonymous names. Your thoughts?

RD: It amazes me every year when I go to AVN how many more girls are in the biz. It has exploded. Ironically, the stigma is still there about porn. I heard there was a documentary recently released about Deep Throat. From 1972 to today, everything has changed but not much has changed. What I mean by that is, we are still afraid as a society to admit that we love porn and we work in porn and that we want more porn. Of course, I’m against any kind of porn that would hurt a child or animal. But there’s nothing wrong with consenting adults enjoying an activity that we all need—like air!

EZ: Over the past decade, porn has become more mainstream. Has it made you feel differently about being in this business?

RD: My favorite part of the biz is being around open-minded people. Nothing turns me off more than a hypocrite! Be comfortable in your sexuality. Don't be afraid to experiment with your partner. I once had someone share with me that he was afraid to tell his girlfriend to fuck him in the ass with a strap-on. He thought she might think he was gay, but he loved it!

EZ: You appear to truly enjoy the glamour aspect of the biz. Your photos are all very glamorous! Tell me about dressing up. What kind of “looks” you like best.

RD: My fav photographer is Michael Bisco. He shoots Vivid's box covers and other high-end jobs. I love shooting with him. He always hires a top makeup artist, decides what I’ll wear and organizes the backgrounds. We do three looks in one day. Growing up, I adored dressing up. I’m all girl; it’s about shoes, clothes, makeup, etc. When I was six years old, I remember putting my mom's knee high hose on. Of course, on me they were thigh highs! I love the classy, sexy looks, like Playboy-style.

EZ: You seem to have a pretty good sense of humor about the biz. And you look like you really enjoy yourself. What’s your favorite part of the biz?

RD: How about my least favorite? Phony prima donnas! These girls that get in and all of a sudden have huge egos and act bitchy. Get over yourself. Also, I hate that girls think the big fake lips are good. I have yet to meet a guy who likes that "fish hook" look.

EZ: Any funny anecdotes?

RD: My funny anecdotes: Men will never have enough variety of sex partners just like women will never have enough shoes.

IRONY: It is legal to beat someone up, humiliate, put nipple clamps on, inflict abuse, etc.—as would a dominatrix—but it is not legal to treat someone lovingly like "married" people do, i.e. Prostitution. What a fucked up country! We are the land of the free, the home of the brave, just don't admit you like sex!

Years ago Courtesans (prostitutes) were revered in society. They socialized with the very wealthy and royalty. They were the only women to legally own property. If you were married, your husband owned the property, not the wife.

EZ: You travel around the country a lot. Any particular cities you especially enjoy?

RD: I love visiting Florida and New York. San Francisco has a great liberal vibe and the clubs are very open-minded. It's like gays in the
Military: don't ask, don't tell. In other words, life is good in San Francisco clubs!

EZ: If you could be doing anything for a living, other than the adult entertainment biz, what would it be?

RD: Other than the adult biz, I would be doing something in sales. I love interacting with and meeting new people.

EZ: Do you answer all your own email? Work on your web site yourself?

RD: I do answer all my own email and apologize to those when I get behind. Klaudia with KGM Productions manages my web site. They do a great job! I get a lot of compliments on my site. She’s a very sweet and smart lady!

EZ: How long has your site been online?

RD: We started my site about 18 months ago.

EZ: What are your fans most obsessed with? What do they ask about most?

RD: I think most fans are curious about what really goes on behind the scenes on a porn shoot. I love to fill them in on the "smoke and mirrors." Why should guys think that all those big cum loads are real? Thanks to Piña Colada mix and Dove dish soap, every porn guy can spooge like Peter North!

EZ: What would you like to be doing in 10 years?

RD: In 10 years I'll be doing "Geriatric Porn." Just kidding! I hope to be directing or writing interesting porn projects. Right now I'm working on a few ideas for Penthouse. Also, I’d like to invest in some real estate opportunities.

EZ: What are your latest projects?

RD: Well, I’m a distributor for the Vibe Ring. It’s a cock ring with a small vibrator attached to it. People can go to  HYPERLINK "http://www.raquel.getyourvibeon.com" www.raquel.getyourvibeon.com to see more information about the product.

EZ: Anything else you’d like to mention/talk about?

RD: Lastly, two of my favorite things in life are to make people laugh and have a good time. The past years in this industry have allowed me to meet fabulous people that I never would have met. I have made good friends with most of my fans; they are great guys! I’ve met amazing girls in the biz such as Laurie Wallace, Kianna Dior, Venus Milan, Jessica Jewel, Montana Gunn, Pamela Peaks...I could go on and on. I’m very appreciative that I’ve had this experience and opportunity. I've had the time of my life and hope to continue to!
